Experience

“It’s not what is poured into a student, but what is planted.” - Linda Conway Greetings! My name is Alan and I am a former graduate student with a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences that I completed last May. I am currently working at a hospital as a medical scribe and tutoring during my gap year before I begin medical school this fall. In regards to tutoring, while I'm new to this website I have a wide variety of experiencing teaching people of different ages and backgrounds, ranging from gifted children and refugees to college students. Some examples of where I have tutored include Northwestern's Weekend Enrichment Program, UIUC's biology department, Wyzant, and Chegg. With an extensive academic background that includes years worth of biological science I promise to aid you to the best of my ability. I will be free to tutor up until I start medical school. Furthermore, if there are any pre-medical students out there, or if you're considering embarking on such a journey, I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the process. As well as, assist with application prep. I have a graduate level understanding of Anatomy & Physiology, Immunology, and Cellular biology. Also proficient in biochemistry. I am more than willing to help those preparing for the MCAT with the Biology/Biochemistry section (I scored in the 91st percentile), and work with you to develop strategies for studying in general. I firmly believe every student has the potential to succeed, but sometimes they require a positive influence and an individualized approach to teaching, so contact me today and we can work together to achieve your goal!

Hobbies

In addition to my medical interests I am also passionate about educating others in topics ranging from the biological sciences and preventative medicine to helping underrepresented/disadvantaged groups navigate today's complex healthcare environment. During my free time I enjoy reading a good science fiction novel (just finished Annihilation) and traveling to new places with my friends in and around Chicago. I'm also an avid cinephile, so you'll often find me relaxing at home and watching a new film.
